Why is "country of birth" given so much relevance?

To me all that matters is race, place of upbringing, and duration in a place

  1. Define "race".

    I'm from rural-ish Scotland. I was in Georgia USA one year and this woman asked me if we had a problem with "black" people in my town. "What do you mean?" I asked her. "Well, are there more and more of them coming in? How do you cope with Africans in your kind of town?" ..... "Well yeah", I said, "We are seeing more and more shades of people where I live... but they haven't had to come far to buy all the big houses..... bloody English!". She shut up pretty quick after that.... racist t**t.


  2. It is another thing that makes you different from others.  The country of birth is where you're originated.
