  1. "well done" can be said when someone does something well OR says something well while "well said" can only be used when someone SAYS something well. so "well done" is more versatile.

    good luck with your debate!

  2. well done sounds like you  agree with everything they say however well said is more yes u made a good point but...i dont agrree

  3. I thought you said 'Well Done' for when you did something good and 'Well Said' for something impressive you said. I guess 'Well Done' is just a common answer. Sometimes, I like it when someone says 'Well Said', I guess it shows more admiration, since they didn't use the common phrase 'Well Done'. Also 'Well Done' is probably for everything and 'Well Said' is only for saying something good. Me, I wouldn't mind.

  4. Because well done means you have accomplished something by DOING something. Well said just means you stated your point well...without Doing anything.

  5. Well done just sounds better lol

    more professional

  6. The heart of your conundrum, extrapolating the difference between "well said" and "well done," can be derived from the original quote, as authored by Benjamin Franklin, who stated (as you already have), "Well done is better than well said."  Benjamin Franklin, well-renowned for the publication of Poor Richard's Almanac, often incorporated quotes on life, ranging from politics to the content of man, into these annual editions (many of them are similar in nature to the quote in question).  As I perceive it, Franklin's quote is similar to the age-old adage, "Actions speak louder than words;" it is far better to "do" than to simply say that you will or plan to.  Men are far better noted for their accomplishments (Franklin's invention of the bifocals, the creation of a fire company, and various international diplomacies) than their words (Franklin's many quotes, ideas, and proverbs, as printed in his Almanac or autobiography).

  7. Well said is informal well done is written and traditional.
