Why is rain and sun together? is this normal?

outside of my house it is sunshine, but its also raining the same time. How is that possible?

Isn't it true that if it rains, there should be no sun

  1. It is based on the distribution of the could cover, that is the % of the sky that is covered in cloud, So some areas may have a partial cloud cover with rain producing conditions  and so experience rain. The cloudless part will be in sunshine. The angle at which the rain falls depends on the velocity of the wind so it is possible to get the angular fall reaching the ground in a area where there is no cloud.

  3. It's called a "sunshower". It's a bit rare, but not

    too out of the ordinary.

    If it's raining out of a small cloud, the sun can

    shine in at an angle under the cloud and

    there you are.
