  1. Because without these programs what would liberals do to "feel better" about themselves?  When liberals feel guilty for being useless and bad people they have to do things to make themselves feel better even though those things do nothing or actually cause harm.  But when liberals don't concentrate on these types of things they might focus on something else like "fixing" global warming.  This might actually accelerate the next ice age and kill us all!  Of course a Liberal would say that killing all the people isn't really the end but from a practical standpoint it would be.

  2. Recycling is not necessary for Earth's survival.  The Moon is not known to recycle anything, yet it is believed to be as old as the Earth and in no danger of perishing.

On the other hand, the Earth is a huge recycling plant, and recycling is absolutely necessary for our continued existence on its surface.  As far as humanity's efforts at recycling, we need to stop trying to approach it helter-skelter, and consider whether our efforts will be beneficial or harmful to our environment.

  3. To avoid non bio degradable junk. For example a plastic takes hundreds of of years to decay, so that it can mix with soil, till then the toxins substance in then does not allow any plant species to grow where the plastic waste is dumped, so recycle it.

  4. With certain items, like water for instance, it is because there is a finite amount of it and we must treat it for reuse. Other items, take plastics for instance, would inundate us as they accumulated.

  5. It's not.  We do not have the power to threaten Earth in any meaningful way.  If we made 10000X the number of nuclear weapons we have now and set them all off at once.. we'd barely scratch the surface.

Human survival is a different story..

  6. It isn't essential for the Earths survival - it's important for OUR survival. The planet will carry on just fine with or withour us or any eco policy.

  7. It's not. It just helps keep trash off the roadways.
