"romantic languages" is the english translation for "lingue romanze"

a romantic language is just a language that origins from Latin.

in italian we say "lingue romanze" or "Neolatine"

over 1 billion people in the world speak a neo-latin language.

  7. The Romance languages get their name from the languges spoken in the ROMAN empire. It is always with a capital 'R'. They are ROMAN languages. They are ROMANce languages.

The word 'romance' (small 'r') came from the same root, but developed its current meaning over centuries.

  8. well, if we are talking about the lenguage, italian is such a good one. just listen to the sound, and compare it with other lenguages like english and german, italian makes a cooler sound! maybe a romantic one....

  9. Romance languages are called romance languages because they have a sing song quality to the speech and the inflections have a nasal tone. So, it sounds a bit like a song when spoken. Italian, French, Latin, and Spanish are called romance languages. But it has nothing to do with "romance" or being romantic per se.

Slavic languages are usually called guttural languages because the sound comes from deeper in the throat.
