Just who is advising Bet Windsor? At a time when Britain is having to tighten its belt the tourists are going to be shown just how the most privileged family in the country lives!

Me thinks it's not just time for smiling Jock Brown to go! What a parting gift from Blair, to leave him in charge unchallenged and not a whimper from the rest of the cabinet! WE ALL KNEW WHAT WAS GOING TO COME oil price hike or not!!

  1. good question- maybe the folks think royalty means cultured, which it does not.

  2. You have bees in your bonnet. Ask one question and we'll have a go at puting you right.

  3. Royalty transcends Politics, and has far more in common with Society and Culture.

At this point, the author goes into a badly contrived rant.

  4. Why does all that drivel after the question have nothing to do with the question?

Royalty is part of Britain's culture, or it used to be before we lost anything we might be able to call culture.

  5. Most royals are only, as officially stated, "figureheads," holding more cultural than political power.  Only in I believe Monaco, a principality, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Brunei, do titles actually mean anything politically.  Also the Vatican is a sort of democratic monarchy where the process of electing a pope is actually not at all different from the process used by the ancient Romans to elect an emperor, or any figure of political significance.

  6. Royalty is listed under society & culture because it is not meant to be a political debate to discuss the current British governmental system.

Apparently this category has become more like "UK: Constitutional Monarchy system vs. Republic".

Perhaps the label ROYALTY sounds ambiguous to some people and should be renamed to "Royalty and Nobility", "European Royalty and Nobility" (if it is decided that countries in other continents can be excluded), or similar, and thus avoiding  misunderstandings.

ROYALTY doesn't necessarily imply "ONLY BRITISH ROYALTY".

Yahoo Members should keep in mind that this forum was not exclusively meant for British citizens/residents. I, for one, am an American citizen living in the US, and even though I may have an opinion on certain British political matters, it is not the reason why I am answering/asking questions under the category ROYALTY.

Another important point worth mentioning, is the fact that even if there is a change in the British constitutional monarchy system, no one can undo the past, and Royalty will always remain part of the British heritage, traditions, history and, students from schools all over the world will continue studying it.

So please, could it be possible for those having  political opinions/questions about this matter, to post them under the category POLITICS?

    ..edit..

I'd like to thank all the members for understanding, respecting and supporting my opinion, particularly Mr. "Justin".

    PEACE!

  7. Because it is part of the British culture and society itself.
