Why is sericulture not encouraged by people working for animal protection?

sericulture is rearing of silk from silkworm.
these animal protection people think its a sin 2 kill the animal coz they have a life.its a sin to kill a creature which has a life.in sericulture it need to kill the pupa which has build the silk around it.it is called cucoon.this cucoon is put in the hot water and the silk around the pupa is slowly removed and thus the pupa will die after the immersion in the water.
