Both my sister and I are taking clomid. I take it on cycle days 5-9. My sister takes it on cycle days 3-7. Why is hers different? And do they still provide the same percentage of twins? Or is one more than the other? Thanks!!

  1. My dr. is having me take clomid day 5-9 as well. Dr.s have many different ways on when they want you to take it .  My ob told me to take it 5-9 and my family dr said he would make me take it 3-7 just depends on the dr i guess.   Please let me know how it turns out for you.

  2. There are 3 schedules for Clomid CD1-5, CD3-7 and CD5-9. Your doctor will prescribe the dates based on how much 'jump-starting' your ovaries need. Seems like her ovulation is a little stronger than yours, which is why her schedule is later, that's all. I've not idea if there are statistics available of the various odds of twins based on the different schedules -- sorry!

  3. The likelihood of twins has nothing to do with the days you take the pills. It's only about a 10% chance of multiples on Clomid, so if you're hoping for twins, you're probably going to be disappointed.

The decision about when you should take the pills is based on many things, including doctor's experience, hormone levels, and cycle length. I took it 5-9 my first two times, and 3-7 the last time I took it.
