Why is shopping in Canada so uninteresting when it manufactures so much for the US?

Somehow, by most accounts, it's more fun and economical to shop in the States. Are Canadian businesses or merchants lacking the same get-up-and-go or inspiration?

At the moment its more economical to shop in the states for Canadians because our dollar is so low.  It used to be we Americans would shop in Canada to get the most bang for our buck.  I love shopping in neighboring Windsor (from Detroit); although since 9/11 it's not as easy to get over the bridge or through the tunnel.
