  1. There is mostly blue in the sky, but also mixed in is green and even a little red (I'm referring only to primary colors).  The reason being that nitrogen scatters higher-frequency light more efficiently than lower-frequency light, so there is more blue than green, and more green than red in the sky.

I once wrote a graphics program containing a sky.  I found this color combination is fairly accurate:

    red: 96

    green: 160

    blue: 255

If you open paintbrush and modify a color using this combination, you can verify it.

  2. what about indigo?

  3. Leonardo DaVinci theorized this one.  Light beams travel in straight lines, as they come into contact with the atmosphere they scatter and break up. The light that comes from above is blue while the light that comes from the side is a reddish orange hue. And yes the sun does give off a green color. It's known as the "green flash" and it happens just the moment the sun goes below the horizon. But the only thing is, you have to be at a higher altitude than the horizon to see.

  4. Because the reflected light of the molecules results in blue. If it was green, we wouldn't be alive.

  5. The atmosphere doesn't scatter green light.

  6. Because the atmosphere does not contain any molecules that scatter the green wave length.
