  1. Cigarettes contain nicotene, tar and carcinogens. The carcinogens are the one's respiratory system. Tar sticks to the brochial tubes.

  2. All of the answrs above are correct and I will not repaet the answer. I am not promoting smoking, but here is a little neuropsychology with smoking.

Nicotine, the active ingredient in smoking, has a similar structure to the neurotransmitter, acetylcholine. As you might know, acety;choline is used for memory (will see a drastic loss of this neurotransmitter in Alzheimer's disease). But Nicotine has a similiar structure to the transmitter and will bind to the receptors on the post-synaptic neuron. So, Nicotine helps in memory because it binds to acetylcholine's receptors.

    Good luck.

  3. The other responders have good answers.

A couple of things they forgot to mention:

Smoking is the #1 cause of home fires that result in fatalities in the USA.  The respiratory system stops functioning in people who have been burned to death.

Smoke (and hot smoke) cause irritation and scarring of the lungs.  This scarring can result in additional cell layers added within the lungs -- making the capillaries farther away from the air, and thus reducing the oxygen absorption per unit time.

Some of the particulates in cigarette smoke settle into the alveoli and are themselves irritants.  Their presence results in a distinctive coughing (smokers' hack).  Excessive coughing can actually puncture alveoli, and make them join together in larger air sacs -- with less surface area (emphysema).

  4. smoke gets in the lungs, making oxygen unavailable.

  5. it fills your lungs with cement and tar come on stop asking retarded questions

  6. Tar blocks the oxygen receptor things so you won't get as much oxygen. Those parts of your mucsles will die, and parts of your lungs

  7. Because it adds smoke and other c**p to the air that the respiratory system circulates.
