  1. Soy sauce is a fermented sauce made from soy beans, roasted grain, water, salt and sometimes other ingredients such as molasses (as in Chinese dark soy sauce). Its dark brown colour is due to the long and slow fermentation process, which can take anything between 3-6 months (if made authentically).  

    Soy milk is a stable emulsion of oil, water and protein – which is simply an aqueous extract of whole soy beans. The liquid is simply produced by soaking dry soy beans and grinding them in water. Because soy milk is fresh and not fermented it keeps its opaque/creamy white colour.


  2. soysauce is fermented. and to be honest, every fermented thing i know of is either dark brown or black.
