Coz just about the time you ask that is when the opposing team decides they're gonna work together and spank ur butt.

because its about standards and having morals and principals in the heat of battle (i.e sport) sportsmanship shows we can still be human and fair when everything else is telling us to win and destroy our opponent,it can also be more enjoyable to watch than just winning like runners when they go back and help a fallin runner even though it will cost them the race.

You could come up with a lot of reasons

The most prestigous individual award is for the Fairest and Best (fairest =sportsmanship)

There used to be a lot of brawls in Football, now with video reports and extra umpires, less fighting, and more Sportsmanship.

When the players step out on to the field, they face a group of 22 who are also playing at the highest level, ..... you have to be good enough to play AFL to be selected by a club, Respect for each other regardless how much they hate or want to beat each other. (Respect = Sportsmanship)

Of course now with all the work and emphasis being put on Grass roots football, the junior comps, players these days are more than only AFL Players playing Football on Saturday, they are seen as role models to young kids. The AFL wants a good outlook from the public especially kids and parents and Sportsmanship plays a big role in that..

Coz it just is. Its like not a fair game if there isnt any sportsman ship. Its just a game, if theres no sportsman ship th players could jus go around punching each other up. Plus, if u play dirty and then b a good sport at th end it really pisses th player off!!! hehe
