ok so in order for me to get a new two year contract with sprint and the new sprint instinct I have to pay a 500 ******* dollar deposit. I think this is bullcrap because I dnt have bad credit..I don't have any credit and that's because I just turned 18...I feel tottally inculted because they sent me a brochure in the mail about going back to school in style with the new sprint instinct and crapped and I thout that was a total sign that I should get the phone because I was gonna get it anyway even before I got the brochure yesterday and its like why would u expect a 18 yr old to pay a 500 dollar deposit when were just starting to get credit and don't have good jobs or anything..its bull****..but I just wanted to know if there was any way around this deposit because if there isn't they can kiss my ***! I thout maybe if I went to best buy and got it they might not ask for a deposit but I dunno..plz help me cause I really want this phone!! and don't tell me to ask my parents to get it because its not going to happen and I wnna do it myself.

  1. They are doing this because too many 18 year old's before you didn't pay their bill.

    Not fare but true.

My advise is to shop around for another phone.  I hate sprint anyway.  They have horrible customer service.

  2. You are a risk because you have no credit history to go from. You're right--you don't have "bad" credit per-say, but you have not yet demonstrated that you are financially responsible either. If Sprint gave a phone like that to everyone who was 18 with no credit history--chances are that they'd take some financial battering from kids that might not be as mature as you. Its just a precaution for the time being. Once you *have* the phone, you'll build credit and then no one will bug you for annoying deposits in the future (of that nature anyway...there'll be the car & house deposits later on)

  3. just get a prepaid minutes phone.........

get a credit card from your bank and only charge $10 per month, then pay it off.........

in three months sprint won't require a deposit

  4. It won't charge anything if you go buy the phone from someone like best buy you will still have to put down the deposit to get the service from sprint. It is true that it is not fair that you have to put down such a huge deposit for service but that is life and you will find that there are lots of things that are not fair. in the mean time you might want to consider getting a phone you can afford and not the current "it" phone because you think you need it. they will just come out with something better next year anyway.

  5. Welcome to the real world.  Businesses like Sprint have set the deposit requirement because too many of your age group have burned Sprint in the past.  It's not fair, but then life isn't always fair.  It's about earning your way in the world.

Spring bought your name from a list broker, along with thousands of others just turning 18 and/or graduating from high school, and hope to get a few customers from the list.  Obviously you won't be one.  BTW, given your credit

"non-history", it's a good bet that all the other cell phone companies are going to ask for a big deposit as well.

  6. I think you should get some help from following website.

  7. I know someone who is an I.R. for all major cellular phone providers.  She may be able to shed some light on this problem and might be able to suggest some things to do, she might be able to help you with this even.  You'd need to contact her and tell her the situation and what's going on etc.  Maybe she can do something about this.  I know she's helped a lot of people with credit problems, so she may be able to help you as well.  I wouldn't go to best buy and purchase the phone.  The same thing is going to happen there.  Talk to an I.R.

    Her email is kaiden4@aol.com

    Good Luck to you
