I just noticed that Starbucks' coffee (especially their house brew) quality is getting lower. I ordered a house brew last week and it tastes substandard and I dont recall the house brew tasting like that. Is starbucks' quality getting lower?

I hope they cut down on the mints, stuff toys and music cds and focus more on the quality if their coffee.

  1. LMAO!!! i don't know where you are from or what kinda Starbucks you have been going to, but I have been with this company for a year and a half and the quality always has been and still is top notch, well at least at my store it is! maybe the barista gave you old coffee. not starbuck's fault.... some baristas are just dumb and can't make coffee for c**p....  come to my store, you would change your mind!

  2. It depends on who's the person making it probly a someone with no experience made it or a trainie did

  3. Starbucks is struggling, they pulled all of their business out of Australia just a few weeks ago.

    Good thing too.

  4. Perhaps it's because they are a faceless international corporation, and like most corporations now a days (*coughyahoocough*), do not care if their product is truly any good or not because there are billions of new customers out there to reel in, so losing some of the old ones doesn't make a difference.

  5. LMFAO  it taste like c**p

    ROLFology

  6. they cut down the quality but leaves the price unchanged for them to make more money.. all food services work that way.. notice the chicken on KFC getting smaller?... notice the patty in mcdonalds getting thinner?

  7. It's simple branding and globalisation. It's one of it's biggest problems and the same for any big mulitinational restuarant, etc. How do you make your coffee be the same great quality everywhere?

Personally I think Starbucks is waning because it focuses more on profits than coffee, now more than ever. There's nothing like the atmosphere of an independent café. Starbucks is also very expensive (at least in Europe it is). The profit margin must be massive.

If your coffee isn't what it should be though and you want to stay with Starbucks you should send it back. Don't keep drinking it, demand better coffee. YOU paid for it and it's YOUR right.

  8. I do feel that Starbucks skimps on quality nowadays. It's especially easy for them because they can just change the type of beans they brew and spend much less without you noticing a difference right away.

One reason is that they are in a rough patch financially. With the economic difficulties in America, people are rethinking paying for something that is ridiculously overpriced and could be made at home. Starbucks stock is continually going down because people are beginning to realize that no matter how fancy a name you give a coffee drink, it shouldn't break the bank. So their plummeting stock may have them trying to save as much money as possible by skimping.

The second reason this may be happening is because Starbucks has been around so long that they have created customers with brand loyalty. Even if a loyal customer gets a sub-par drink once and a while, they are already hooked on the Starbucks vibe and will continue coming back anyway. When companies have already hooked their marketing target they tend to cut back on quality which makes them a bigger profit. Its like when fast food chains introduce a new menu item, they have big portions and make it well. As it becomes more popular and people like the item, they slowly being to downsize the portions and the quality of the ingredients goes down but because customers have tried it and liked it, they will continue to order it.

I think its despicable how often big corporations try to dupe their customers and even worse, how often they succeed.
