  1. People are thinking twice about spending money on coffee, because of the economy.

  2. because they have to re think the price of their coffee. People need to spend their money on gas not coffee, to bad you can't drill here and drill now, to reduce the price of a latte'

I thought I'd read that it was Bushes fault, I really hope you blame Nobamma when the economy really tanks.

  3. Because of the new McDonald's Iced coffee.... it's pretty d**n good.

  4. they're not closing...

  5. There are too many of them

  6. they are closing 600 stores that are not making money . just good business . coffee sales down . they put out a list of stores they are closing today

  7. Starbucks has announced that they are closing 600 stores across the nation, to eliminate unprofitable locations. Supposedly every store closing is within two miles of another Starbucks.  You just might have to drive a little bit farther, that's all.

  8. Maybe because caffe lattes are getting played out.

  9. Because they have over-priced, extremely fattening drinks and burnt rubber tasting coffee.

Even if it was good, who would pay so much for a coffee or drink when the economy is going so badly and things people really need are getting more and more expensive? Something has to go.

  10. theres a lawsuit against the company as a whole

  11. i know!

    it sucks so bad.

the one by my school is closing.

i go there every day after school.

    i'm so mad.

  12. The market is saturated and some of their stores are losing money so the money losers are being closed.

  13. They are closing cause they dont make enuff to stay open! Not only them Many many other stores are closing who can afford stores I know I cant an we used to be middle class  its called RECESSION This is gonna get worse then THE GREAT  Depression  GET READY an save some money an NOT in the Bank, Dearie

  14. Because people aren't buying their coffee as much.

Now, let's get something straight here.

People aren't buying their coffee because they can no longer afford it, it's because the quality and service has dropped to the floor.   Let me give an example: I don't mind paying $4.00 for a Macchiato, but I do have a problem paying that much money for half a cup of foam.   They other day a ordered a caramel macchiato and all a got was warm milk.  When I went back to get it fixed, all I got was attitude from the barista and more foam.     I decided that I wasn't going to visit Starbucks ever again. I'm happy with Coffee Bean now.

  15. there not closing there just closing stores that dont make as much mone which is only about 600 the website i list has the whole list of starbucks closing

  16. Because smart people are getting their coffee cheaper somewhere else and not paying their ridicules prices

  17. because people are tired of paying 5 dollars for a cup of coffee, the economy

  18. Because... they aren't making enough money to justify the expense in keeping them open.

  19. A cavalcade of economic troubles, from imploding housing markets to rising gas prices, has pinched consumers, hurting not just Starbucks but nearly all retailers. The chain is struggling to attract customers for the afternoon frappuccinos they once bought eagerly

  20. here's a list of all the closing locations - http://starbucksclosingstores.blogspot.c...

  22. Because they have over extended their growth projections. They several years ago, decided to Incorporated a fly-by-night expansion policy that has come back to bite them in the but_.

    Bad economy.

    Over sized corporation.

    Too aggressive financial portfolio.

    Etc...

  23. they are closing about 600 stores

    starting in Jul;y

    cuz

Bush sucks and made our econonmy weak

  24. people can Berle pay for there gas much less a 8$ coffee.

  25. The economy.

As you may have noticed with new shopping centers with target their is a Starbucks inside the store and also another within the same complex.

It was set up for failure.

  26. Allot of their moves are shady and probably illegal....not to mention the cost of living is soaring so they are shutting down some of their new stores because people can't afford to buy girly coffee and type on the laptop all day like q****s.

  27. They are just closing the 3rd store on every street corner. The other 2, across the street from one another, will remain open. Isn't it funny how somebody will pay $5.00 for a cup of coffee without a whimper. But cry like a baby over $4.00 for a full gallon of gas?

  28. haven't heard that one. Our starbucks's are all open.

I think it is up to the individual franchise when to open/close. Perhaps yours is in a neighbourhood that is dependent on students and with schools being closed?? Or perhaps the owners are just going on vacation.
