Why is sustainability important in the environment?

I need information on why we need sustainability in our environment

sustainablity =  does not hurt environment.

We want nice environment b/c we like to breath clean air, drink clean water and look at pretty green plants. And we do not like running ACs or using water to irrigate farmland.
