I am doing a research paper on Dyslexia and thought this would be a nice introduction to the paper. Was hopping for some ideas of why reading is so important. Thank you

  1. imagine for a moment you can't read you can see all of this but it means nothing to you. how do you know were you are if you can't read a map. what do you do at the store if you can't read the price of the thing you wish to get. life would be so hard if you don't know how to read. in fact that computer would have no use without people that can read because if you can write you can read. so if you can't read your life will be so hard.

  2. Reading is so important because if a student can't read, they can't be successful in any other subject because you have to be able to read the textbooks, tests, and create reports/projects.

Instead of putting this idea, why not try to find some good quotes about reading?

  3. Its important to teach your own kids to read because schools these days don't teach children to read. Trust me. I'm in high school and I know lots of teens who can't read.

... sorry I don't have a serious answer. But its true... there are kids in my class who still can't read.

  4. so your child doesn't end up retarded like the president of the United States

  5. Most knowledge (not wisdom) is written down. If you don't know how to read, you cannot access information. Not only is reading vital for learning, it is also very important in helping people to understand what words mean, thus allowing them to express themselves.
