i mean tennis is never heard about these days...compared to basketball baseball football and all those sports, tennis is so forgotton about....i mean all the time when the news shows the sports segment, they always leave out tennis...even when there is a major happening...just yesterday, i watched the sports segment and they didnt show any tennis, they didnt even speak one bit about it! instead they spoke about the nba draft and some other football training camp...i mean those sports are in their offseason! why do you think so many channels forget about tennis?

also like nbc, they showed like 2 hours and opted to show those stupid soap operas...i mean last year was way better...they actually cancelled or changed the time in which the soaps were put on but they didnt do it this year! why is tennis always forgotton about!?

  1. Because its dull, boring and no one watches it. Simple.

  2. I saw it a lot on ESPN NBC and the Tennis Channel during the days.  It depends on when the games were played.  It is not forgotten about at all.   It's basket ball draft and baseball season so they are going to be in the news as well.  Also the matches are not being played in the US so that has a lot to do with it and you have to take into consideration the different time zones.  England is 5 hours a head of us so the matches are finished before you know it..  The Williams sisters are the only two Americans who are strong enough and good enough to be in the games and they are almost at the finals so they will continue to show it until the game is finished.

  3. It seems like this only happens in th US. Basketball, Baseball, even Ice Hockey, and their version of Football, will always dominate the sporting headlines in the US, regardless of what happens in tennis.

A second reason has to do with tennis being so global by the players who are dominating the sport these days. They are from all over the world. It used to be only Americans, but now the tennis has gotten so global.

Until an American players comes along and starts to win big, then you will see tennis being broadcasted and talked about all over.

  4. well not were i live..lol

but to answer your question it's just because tennis is a respectful game like golf you don't see screaming people throwing beer every where at a golf game or a tennis player throwing his racket down jumping over the net and punching his opponent in the head, so i guess some see it as boring well yeah i guess tennis is a little boring to watch on t.v but watching it live or playing it is awesome

    or

maybe its just they like to focus on team sports

but ill take a racket and a ball over anything any day!

  5. In UK noone forgets tennis during Wimbledon fortnight!  We get blanket coverage but it is our Championship and most of us brits love it.

  6. maybe where u come from but in s.a if there is major grand slam all the time when the broadcast the news be it radio or tv they always show tennis even on newspapers

  7. I believe this has a lot to do with the nationalities of the players dominating tennis today. With no male American players who could actually beat either the Swiss sensation, Roger, or the Spanish machine, Rafa, the bulk of media outlets, which are largely US-based, have nothing to report home. Compare this to the time when Sampras, Agassi and Cheng were ruling the male court, the media paid so much attention then. Actually, with the Williams sisters poised to meet in the Finals, the media has been paying more attention to tennis.

That said, tennis has the most following in Europe, with a growing following in Asia. Definitely, where I am from, a lot of people know and love tennis.

  8. Yes you are right. Many medias are used to wash our brain. They can't do that with tennis

  9. It's part of a cycle because there is no American tennis player who is dominating (men or women) who really captures the sports' imagination.  The Williams sisters don't have it, Lindsay Davenport does not, and most certainly, no American men's tennis player have it.  Roger Federer is great, but he is today's Bjorn Borg.
