Antonov 225 is the largest aircraft built by Sovit union Formarly USSR and after the breakdown of this country due to lack of Financial support this air craft was scarped and is curentley being used after rebuilding for commercial transport

Why not the same plane be built and use as passanger transporter like Airbus380X

Antonov is bigger than Airbus 380.

  1. Let me answer you question with the help of another question.

Assume you are the guy who takes the decisions in a big airline company. Since you are talking about AN225 we assume your company already owns a couple of 747s,, Will you even consider a Soviet built super jumbo?? Will the investors agree to it?? Why would any passenger take a risk of flying in a Soviet built airliners (just check the record of Soviet built airliners)?

Your idea may possible on paper when we talk about aircrafts costing hundreds of million dollars, these people have to consider the market scenario.

One may argue that Airlines operating in Soviet will be happy to buy the AN225 based jumbo, true but do they have the money?

I am from India and my country's Air Force uses Soviet built aircrafts but you won't find a single Soviet aircraft being used by an airline, even though they may be slightly cheaper than Western made reliable jets (I am assuming this, don't know for sure). Airline's business is dependent on general public and not on the fancies of enthusiasts or engineers. It is hard to change public perception especially when their life depends on it. I believe half of the passengers who board a flight are afraid of flying, do you think they wanna take a chance with their lives by saving a few dollars? Its not a secret that any mishap is a PR disaster for any airline in the world. Why would an airline want to take that chance.

Even the development of new Airbuses and Boeings is dictated by their customers i.e. the airlines. Manufacturers have to convince an airline about a new concept before they can invest in further R&D

  2. The AN-225 is too large and heavy to be practical for ordinary commercial operations, and also too expensive to build.  There would be no point in it for the requirements of most commercial operators.  Hard to make it profitable.

And your English is fairly good, but you need to work on writing and spelling.

    Good luck!

  3. Probably because of its shear size! There are not that many runways wide enough or long enough for it to land and take off. It will probably be impractical for passanger flights because it will consume much more fuel due to the need for 6 engines and also its weight. It does tend to cost alot! Maybe it's little brother, the AN-124 maybe considered a better option for the passanger role because it is smaller, but when even that isn't really small enough. Hope this has been useful.

  4. The same or worse than a C5. It's a maintenance nightmare.

  5. it needs specific runway to be operated to and from, cause it has awesome surface loading. it also needs huge docking areas.

it is useful to have two smaller planes who are able to shift their mission, rather than having one huge that needs to be full loaded to be cost-effective.

not to mention recent noise abatement procedures, and equipment.

  6. Basically it was never designed with commercial use in mind. Its fuel inefficient and it takes a really long runway. It is also very overbuilt for commercial use. This is the same reason that C-5's were never built and sold as commercial aircraft. Large military transports are designed to different parameters than large commercial airplanes. Boeing 747 freighters were proposed as cheap alternatives to C-5B's but were not strong enough. The virtues of a military transport usually make it inefficient as a commercial and vice versa....

  7. Try spelling.
