drive at 40 mph? They seem to be doing at least 47 or 50 mph?And there are signs warning of speed cameras every now and then?

As I am a new driver I do not know if they are crazy or if I should ignore the signs....? I am talking about the distance of 10 miles before Blackwell Tunnel.

  1. no they r idiots. u should stick to the speed limit. speed kills

  2. I am a london taxi driver and used to speed, however I got flashed once or twice and now don't break the speed limit at all, i find it a lot less stressful, after all if you are not speeding then you don't need to worry about where the cameras are or slow down for them, therefore you are the winner, as previously stated it appears to be a pyschological barrier which as long as you are breaking and not getting caught (slowing down and speeding up) is fine for you, you are cheating the system and getting away with it, but I believe the tide is about to turn and it is in the shape of some very big gantrys on the A 13 from Dagenham to Canning town at each entry and exit, rumours in the cab trade are that these are for average speed cameras to be fitted to. So then everyone will be driving at the same speed as us. It's all part of the controlling of society with technology (big brother) and will be changing very quickly...........by the way how long do you think it will be before these average speed cameras are fitted to other major trunk roads? I lived in one of the first roads in London to get speed humps (The Mall N14 1986) now they are everywhere and are bigger than before. Remember, at first they came for Tower Bridge, but I did not use Tower Bridge so I did not speak out, then they came for the A13........................................

  3. You will find after a few years of driving that drivers tend to drive 5 to 7 mph over the posted speed limit, some more some less, but generally they push the limit.

This is one reason that the cameras have to stay there all of the time, drivers never learn to drive the limit, so enforcement must be continuous.

Stay out of their way and drive a speed that is comfortable and consistant with your reactions and driving experience.  You'll enjoy it more and stay alive longer.

    Cheers!

  4. If you want to stay at 40 then thats fine but make sure you stay in the RIGHT lane.

  5. I thought the limit there was 50? Could be wrong, but maybe thats why they appear to be speeding past you!

  6. Same road i use when you get used to the roads you will know where the speed cameras are so then you slow down when passed the little white lines on the road after the speed camera then you can go a bit faster not how it supposed to be but thats driving for you.
