  1. you might be running to many applications at once or the vent on the side of your computer maybe blocked by something like a piece of cloth causing your computer to over heat!

  2. You need to put it on something that will let the air flow under it. They sell them but I use one of those paper trays that you stack on top of each other on your desk. I just turn it upside down. Works great.

  3. laptops do that sometimes that's what mine does... i don't think you can fix it unless you don't go on it too long.

  4. in all the laptops there is exast fan in the bottom. if it is getting high heat clean the fan using a small blower, it is happening because of the dust only, then u can fix the problem. kardevi143@yahoo.co.in

  5. you can get a can of air and blow out all the fans on the bottom and get a stand to set it on for better air circulation.  Laptops normally run warmer due to their compact design and smaller fans.  it is normal for the bottom of a laptop to get very warm

  6. I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 and it does that too. All types of laptops can do it.

I've noticed it gets a lot hotter when it is sitting on my bed or some other cloth surface, so I keep it on a desk all the time now.

  7. its getting hot because its being used too much

u cant really do any thing to fix it other then not use it so much..but the worst that can happen is it over heats and shuts off on its own

and u wont be able to turn it on again until its cooled off..u wont hurt it..theres a device installed inside that shuts it off when its getting too hot so nothing bad happens

  8. You don't say how old (or new) your Toshiba laptop is so I can't be too precise.  If it is brand new (a few weeks) and is getting very hot then it may have a problem and needs to go back to where you bought it - it may have a fault and therefore could present a fire risk (or risk injury to you from burns).

Laptops are incredibly complex beasts.  A whole PC, including drives, a nice LCD screen, keyboard, power (etc) all tightly packed into a compact case.  All this stuff generates heat, which is why your desktop PC has a big fan at the back and loads of slits here and there.  Your laptop is no exception to this - it too has lots of slits, but most of these are likely to be at the bottom and rear of the laptop.  It is a combination of the fan drawing air through the slits which keeps the whole thing cool enough to be operable.

If you block these slits - using the laptop on a non-flat surface for extended periods for example - the air can't circulate and the whole thing gets hot.

So, first thing is to work out whether you're blocking it's ventilation (for example, try using the laptop on a hard desk - does it still get hot? Are the slots all filled with dusty nastiness? Give it a once over with the vacuum cleaner!).

If you're not blocking its vents, then its a good idea to take to a computer store and get someone to look at it.  Many a lap has been burnt by a laptop - don't let yours be one!

  9. It is normal for laptops to get hot during operations especially when your using heavy programs. what you can do is to buy a cooling platform for your laptop.

if the battery is the one thats getting hot.. the answer is to not over charge it..

  10. Use a notebook cooler. It is placed under the notebook

  11. You should put your laptop on a hard flat surfcae so it can cool down more quickly. Laptops heat up very fast and if it overheats, it might shut down and you might lose work. You cant really fix it, just make sure nothing blocks the fan and don't put it somewhere hot. It's a good idea to fan it by hand once in a while to cool it down incase it shuts down. You can also buy laptop cooling mats and it's more convenient. And make sure you don't run too many applications at a time, use it for a very long period, and  don't charge it for too long, it heats up your computer and your battery will die more easily. Don't put it on a soft surface (eg. bed, carpet, pillow, sofa) because the heat can't escape.

  12. laptops need ventilation specially from underneath to allow heat generated by the processor and other parts to dissipate into room air. however, using laptops on surfaces such as a bed, or a couch with sheets generally restricts heat from escaping.

solutions for this can be to work on an even and flat surface for your laptop such as a good work table, or to purchase after-market solutions like notebook and laptop coolers.

an example of this is this product from antec http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.p...

or this one from thermaltake http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=1313

  13. ergh i had a toshiba laptop once i got so pissed off with it, i just ended up chucking it into my pool, they always stuff up like this, hopnestly just get and hp or acer one, i hate they toshiba webcams and way they look too.

  14. Do you have your laptop running all the time? If yes, you should let it rest for a little while. Let the hard drive cool down. If no, you should definitely call the company and see whats going on. Hopefully you have some type of yearly guarantee on your system.

  15. Get a cool laptop mat (cool as in that's what they are called). Laptops all get hot around the processor. Don't use it on the bed cos that blocks the ventilation holes.

  16. You can buy a USB fan holding thingiemabob at any store like bestbuy which would fit your computer and have a fan at the bottom to cool it down.

  17. Not sure why it gets hot, I have a Dell and it does the same thing. I went to Wal-Mart and bought a cooling pad for mine( about 20$)

  18. Laptops need space under them to circulate air and cool the processor.  If you are using it on your lap you are probably blocking the air flow and causing the unit to heat up.  If this is your problem either use your laptop on a table or but a hardcover book on your lap to set it on.

  19. Try buying a laptop cooling mat such as http://www.amazon.co.uk/NEWLink-Laptop-C... or http://www.amazon.co.uk/MY-Link-Notebook...

It may be getting hotter than usual now because you are running more applications on your laptop.
