Question:

Why is that other planets within our Solar System are also experiencing Climate Changes? is it man made too?

After reading reports on current changes in climate conditions in other planets like Jupiter, Pluto, Venus...

I can't help but wonder: can they be related?

Isn't the Sun what they all have in common?

Can we say that human CO2 emissions are also responsable for those other events in the solar system?

If NO, then is it a conicidence that many planets are experiencing some usual climate changes?

  1. the sun is the main source of heat so it should be the most likely culprate! I don't know why people disregard the sun and completely blame the industrial world and their pollution.

  2. Just like the weather changes on Earth (winters are much different than summers) so does it change on other planets. There are a variety of causes for regional or seasonal changes (both for the warming and cooling) of other planets.

One of the criticisms doubters often make of our planets GW is to claim that we don't have long enough or accurate enough temperature records to really know.  How long and how accurate are our records of other planets?  Not very long or accurate.

"Only 6 planets or moons out of the 100+ bodies in the solar system have been observed to be warming. On the other hand, Uranus is cooling."

  3. Not related, so stop wondering!

How many planets and moons did you say were experiencing climate change? You do realize climate change can mean cooling as well as warming? Which is it? Do you know how many planets are in the solar system?

  4. Let's not forget solar activity is at a 1000+ year high, and the Earth's magnetic field has dropped dramatically over the same 150 year period man supposedly started killing the planet with plant food (CO2).  These too, are accurately measured facts unexplained by the current AGW theorists.

  5. If ALL the planets were warming it might mean something, but they are not.

All planets go through heating and cooling naturally, just like the Earth has in the past.

  6. There is NO PROOF of other planets heating up! There is no climate change on other planets!

It's so sad how very ignorant people will 'believe' any crackpot idea ,even those that have no basis in scientific fact. The deniers of AGW will 'believe' ANYTHING, but the truth! They seem so desperate to discredit the real scientists, that they use totally bizarre ideas to come up with their rebuttals.  There must be over a dozen totally different ideas thrown around,to claim that AGW is not happening. ALL OF THEM ARE WRONG!

  7. If I were a betting type my money would be on the Sun as it is always sending out solar flares, we on earth have received many of the X class flares and one such event knocked the power grid off line in Quebec. The force of these solar events hit the Earth and literally bend our magnetic field. When one of these events are on the way planes are told not to fly over Alaska as the passengers would be hit with the equivalent of 100 xray if they fly in this air space. My bet is on the sun..I think it has the same effect on all of the planets or worse.

  8. Fairly straight forward logic:

    1 - All planets/climates experience variation

2 - If climates vary, that means some must be warming while others must be cooling

3 - If there is a common factor (e.g. the sun), then all would be in the same phase (e.g. warming or cooling); if there is no common factor, then the distribution would be more or less random (e.g. 3,4 or 5 of 8/9 planets warming, the others cooling)

So - what is it? All planets warming or just a few?

    It's just a few (you list 3)!

Conclusion: Random variation in action - situation normal, absolutely no correlation or common factor in play.

    P.S. to michael

No one denies that the sun has a central role in determining how warm our planet is. The issue today is how much solar CHANGES have contributed to climate CHANGES:

The IPCC found that "the maximum likely influence of solar" fluctuations on climate change is just 20%.

And recent analysis has shown that "the sun's activity has been decreasing since 1985, [yet] global temperatures have continued to rise".

"The issue of whether the sun's activity is causing global warming had been dispensed with by most scientists long ago."

Yes, the sun keeps us warm but pollution et al is what is making us warmER - big difference!

  9. Earth experienced natural climate variations for billions of years.  And even though other planets in the solar system also experience climate variations, these natural climate variations magically stopped on earth about 30 years ago.  That is what the doom sayers want us to believe.

What people do not understand, is that in order to get catastrophic warming, the climate computer models can not allow for any natural variations.  If there is some, we do not get catastrophic warming, and no need to take any measures.

  10. I doubt that our influence on our atmosphere in this planet has any dictation on other planets they are way to far away that's impossible. Our technology is improving we are probably just noticing these changes more and assume we are the factor.

Please if we upset the sun somehow and effected the gravitational pull of al thel planets then maybe.

  11. None of the above.

As you note, a few planetary bodies (planets+moons) in our solar system are experiencing climate changes.  Some are warming, some are cooling.  The vast majority are experiencing no significant change.

Regardless, we know the Sun isn't responsible, because we've measured solar output directly with satellites over the past 30 years.  During that period, solar output has not changed on average, so the Sun cannot be responsible.

Please see Myth #4 at the first link below for further details.  Then check out the second link for an explanation of how we know humans are causing the current global warming (on Earth).

  12. This keeps being brought up despite the fact there is no evidence to support an increase in solar output, in fact the sun has been monitored for 30 years by satellite and it is fact that in that time there has been no increase and the planets that are warming have shown those slight warming trends within that 30 years. Pluto has an orbit that takes 250 years we have been able to see it in a little detail only since Hubble was launched ~10% of 1 Pluto year.

Venus: keeps being used in this argument but I am yet to see a link to a genuine science site (not blogs) that says it is warming.

Jupiter Generates internally, 2.5 times the heat it gets from the Sun

Pluto warming might have something to do with the fact it has the most elliptical orbit of any planet, its last close approach was 1979 given how little energy it gets from the sun it may only now be showing the slight signs of this. What is warming on Pluto a 3c rise when the normal temp is -230c.

    http://www.daviddarling.info/encyclopedi...

    extract from the link below

"Jay Pasachoff, an astronomy professor at Williams College, said that Pluto's global warming was "likely not connected with that of the Earth. The major way they could be connected is if the warming was caused by a large increase in sunlight. But the solar constant--the amount of sunlight received each second--is carefully monitored by spacecraft, and we know the sun's output is much too steady to be changing the temperature of Pluto."
