  1. I think they only do that when they refer to players pre 1990,when it was still VFL. Half the players in the VFL back then were from interstate, so its always been a national comp, if you see what i mean? The vics had the biggest league, and the most money.

  2. they say that becuz back when VLF was the dominating football league and there were teams from inter state and Victoria making more teams than the rest it was still a national comp but Victoria ruling over all other teams

  3. Its called 100 years of history

  4. They only call it VFL/AFL when talking about it historically.

This is because it was the Victorian Football League, before it went national.

  5. Because most of them are victorian pitching to a victorian audience, I guess they think of the VFL as their hayday.  You'll notice the bias when victorian teams are playing interstate, everything victorian is magic.  In the west coast vs bulldogs game, they had the gall to comment on the number of free kicks given to west coast, it sad that thats the only thing they can say when their team is completely outclassed.

  6. You have to look at history. Although it is now nationwide, it started off in VIC.

You shouldnt worry too much about what the commentators say. They were probably referring to its historical links.

And sometimes when someone does something "first of a kind", they inject in VFL too simply to show that it has never been done in the history of the game, EVEN when it was still VFL
