  1. Well dogs and cats can't do things a horse does. You can't ride them, they just lay there. When im sad my horses always make me happy, expecially when im riding them across my ranch, I feel like I have no boundries in my life. My dog cant give me that feeling. Thats why I love my horses more then a dog or a cat.

  2. I love both dogs and cats equally and for different qualities they possess.  I sometimes see qualities in my horses that remind me of the dogs...a vulnerability or childlikeness?

For me, the size, beauty and grace of horses has always filled me with tears...they are breathtakeing and I think that has something to do with it.  To commune as one with an animal so large and spirited is a very special feeling.

  3. because we have dogs or cats for leasure and comfort but we have horses for love... there is a different bonding between ppl and a horse than people and cats or dogs bc you work as a team with horses but you work for your cats or dogs

  4. Because cats and dogs are lazy and useless. Horses can do cool things.

I mean come on...they're huge and loyal.

Most housedogs are lazy and greedy. Housecats are mean as h**l.

  5. I think of them different because with a cat or dog, you usually get the prettiest or most playful one and that's it. They may cuddle with you and play with you, but its way different with a horse. They can teach you lessons that a dog can't teach you. You are actually working with a horse as a team, and demoting them to 'pet' isn't just the right word for them. It takes a long time to find the 'perfect' horse for you, but if you go out looking for a dog, the first dog you see most likely will go home with you. Horse's actually gain our trust since they are flight animals and live in herds. Dogs will come up to anyone, but it takes a horse a long time to form a bond with you. We can fear these animals, yet love them so much. They can change so many lives and teach you so many things! They are also gentle. You almost never hear of a horse attacking a person like a cat or dog.

I know I love my horse differently from my dogs because

1.) I see him less. I really miss him even if I don't see him for a day

2.) It took forever to find him

3.) We both changed each other. He made me a better rider and I made him a better horse

4.) We had to earn each other's trust

5.) If he does something 'wrong' I still love him and don't get mad. I may get angry at my dog for a day, but the next second I love my horse. Life is too short with him to be mad.

  6. Cats and dogs are prey animals that can biologically take care of themselves out in the wild. Horses are flight animals that flee at the sign of a predator. Because we've taken these animals from the wild and chosen to house them, we work harder to earn their trust than say you would a cat or dog. Horses are reliant on us as captive animals for food and water. They also tend to live longer than a cat or dog. There are more risks that come with owning a horse, including the risk of being hurt or harmed even killed by this enormous creature. Therefore everyday that this large animal doesn't do harm to us is a blessing. You also have to look at the finance aspect of owning a horse. We put more money into a horse than we would a dog or cat, therefore sometimes finances do rule the heart.

  7. I know I like horses better because theyre big animals. And cats and dogs are below your waist. You can also ride them and actually have some fun caring for them and grooming them.
