  1. too much money being printed causes inflation thus lowering the value of the $

  2. I agree with mel, the dollar is devaluing because the economy is not producing enough output to support the increase in costs to produce.  The efficiency of the economy is less today than it was 4 years ago.  So, as mel said it takes 20 dollars of labor to produce what 15 dollars did 4 years ago.  Likewise, it takes people 20 dollars to buy the same food that cost 15 dollars 4 years ago.  Those stimulus checks are similar to what Germany did in WWII when they printed a bunch of extra money to buy resources.  The currency became so worthless that it took a wheel barrel full of cash to buy a loaf of bread!!!

Addn: another reason the dollar is falling is because more and more people are over extended on credit card debt that they are defaulting on and that lost money is eroding the economy.

  3. people make 20 dollars an hour today for what they made 15 dollars an hour 4 years ago. that's devaluing the dollar.

    same work, more money.

and I think they just printed up the money for the "stimulus" check. it was not earned.

  4. Because George W. took us form a surplus to a huge national debt in the trillions.

  5. Low interest rates to bail out US Banks and the mortgage mess.
