Why is the American political system so corrupt and?

decieving to their people, I think its crazy that they do things like allow cancer causing agents to be put into foods and drinks, and do nothing about food sefety, Are other countries this bad, or is the USA like this because of all the corporations. What can we do to stop the gov. and companies from poisoning us. Thats just one of many things I see wrong, the medicine indurtry is als a big joke, they'll pass any drug even if it kills thousands of people, just to make a few bucks. What do you think.

LOL!!! You haven't been to other countries have you? Compared to other countries our government looks like a vision of the future.

Go live in a 3rd world country for a week and I bet you your gonna be begging to be let back into the US.

Agree. That is basically the way most countries are. Money & greed corrupt. But what is the alternative? Anarchy. So we have to just keep on doing what we know is right, & putting people who are ethical & wiser than the bunch into positions of responsibility. This too shall pass, & one day, we may find that all our hard work, our hope, & our faith paid off. We could change the world, if enough people worked together & believed.

And just think, as bad as the USA may be, we are still the Best! Imagine the corruption in other countries like China, Mexica, Singapore, Phipippines, Zimbabwe, etc. etc. Compared to them, we look like kings. Is your glass half full or half empty?

Our government is run by big business--that explains the sorry state our media, the fact that we have a higher percentage of poor people than most industrialized countries, and why we keep fighting wars that really do us absolutely no good (except big business, it does them good).

And there are options other than Cuba and what we currently have (for the post above).

I think anyone trying to join government in attempts to change the way government works soon finds it changes them for the worse look how much our congress is payed 200k i would gladly do their job for 30k they only work 100 days a year if their were bad things put in our food someone would get paid off to let it happen.

Because "We the people" are too lazy to do something about our government. We have more than 2 candidates for president. Most people think there are two and if you don't vote for them you're voting for a loser. It's that flawed thinking that's helped get us here. Our government sold us out and we let them.

The people in power have mastered their abilities to keep their powerful positions (keeping & marrying only rich and powerful friends, doing big business deals with large corps, etc.), and also how to distract and mislead people from what is actually going on.

well remember we are all just dumb sheep. we arnt any different than the dictators we hate. we have let corporate america lie to us and p**p on us for 50 years. theres only one way to change the way we do things; we must have a war against the government, it will never stop we will keep buying our death and giving into there propaganda. i mean come on look at the last election! look at the comercials and the way they put there little show on to distract us and we take it;  and just go on about our pathetic lives. you know voting dont matter! not realy, its who has the biggest most powerfull backers and conections. money is the start of it all.   just like if you needed a transplant. good luck! youll be dead before you get on the list.  all these nasty pharmacuticals we push on people when we have already got all kinds of real cures and clean natural medicines. we refuse to use it because you cant make money off a completely well person. at least communist say hay non of you are free and im gonna opress you all ! here we opress each other and then let the government do it and say there not or make promises the can never keep. if we werent greedy selfish people we could live in a pretty nice disease free world; but we would rather have our material items close to us and have our suffering and belief we have a little control over our bleek lives. but we dont!  money, greed, and power is your answer no one cares about any one. sad but true!!

If our country is so terrible why do we need to build fences to keep invaders out. Some countries need fences to keep people in why dont you relocate to one of these countries if you think this country is so terrible.

Unfortunately the US isn't the only country, just the biggest making their faults highlighted. They also brag about their faults like they are good things making everyone that much more knowledgeable.

the political system is so corrupt because that is the nature of political systems.  people don't involve themselves with political offices, etc. for altruistic purposes.  despite what their campaign manager may say.  they seek power and control, and to a (slightly) lesser extent, money.

The US is corrupt?  Have you ever heard about Africa in the news?  If you have, any problem Africa has is because of real corruption.  The US is an amazingly UNcorrupt country as far as countries go.

Go abroad and then try and complain about the US.  Its a lot harder to do once you have been to a real c**p hole country.

It is most likely because "we the people, the majority who are the working, middle class, have been so busy trying to get an education and working our tails off that we haven't had time to really pay much attention to what has been going on in Washington. We trust our elected officials to keep the country running and keep us informed. We were too d**n trusting of this administration and now we are paying for it big time. It is time to speak up and out about these issues. Those criminals responsible for this need to be investigated. No one is above the law. The big business lobbyists from the insurance companies and drug companies paid off congress to pass laws in their favor while sticking it to the people. Individuals can lose their homes through bad banking practices, because of hospital bills. You could just  die in a hospital ER if you don't have insurance, or you are in a hospital that your insurance company doesn't approve of. Bankruptcy doesn't exist any longer so breaking insurance companies rules will cause you to lose everything that you have worked for. One the other hand, if you or a loved one dies because of a bad prescribed drug that's too bad. Bush has made it very hard to sue drug companies anymore.

Most of McCain's campaign funding is coming from these same lobbyists.

Actually, it is much harder to get medicines approved here in the U.S. than it is in Europe. The FDA has unbelievably strict procedures that others argue keep needed medicines from making it to the people who need them. So, I wonder, who is right, those who complain needed drugs are being held up or you thinks they just get released to the public without oversight.
