The 777-200LR is abbreviated to 77L, which makes sense, how does "W" denote 300ER?

  1. 77W from 777 with Increase Gross Weight (IGW) capability. Letter W could means Weight.


  2. stands for higher gross weight. the -300version of the 777 is the higher gross weight version so W

    most airlines use these kinds of mixed abbreviations in their timetables.

    like 77W, 77L,763,767, DH1, 343 etc.

    so you know the aircraft type and the version of it.
