Just curious... I'm very intrested in the Canon because of it's zoom features... but I'm curious to know why the Nikon is so much more expensive. What features does it have that the Canon does not have (in words I can understand... I'm not a camera expert =\) I just want to know what I'll be sacrificing if I go for the Canon.

  1. The Nikon has more megapixel (resolution) and a better flash (even a hot shoe to mount a larger flash). The Canon has a better zoom. Canon makes great digital cameras and has what many consider the best optics (lenses). Megapixels are not very important over 6MP anyway for almost anyone. I'd go with the Canon. You get a better than average point and shoot with a good zoom lens. That is probably more useful to you than a hot shoe or more MP.

  2. Mostly the name and quality behind the product of Nikon.

However check the spec sheet for each model. Many (not all ) Cannon's are a little heavier to carry. Shutter speed and shutter lag are two very important specs to consider.

The entire feature list would also need to be compared.

  3. If you compare that two nikon cameras with canon G9 then why G9 more expensive. G9 has 12.1 MP same one of them, a hot shoe, large senser, etc , something like that. The price high or low depend on camera quality.
