Why is the Chinese government such a repressive regime??

They totally suppress freedom of speech. That big party they are having in Tiannamen Square right now is on top of the bodies of thousands of jopeful young Chinese University students who wanted democracy.

They turned guns on their own children! They ran over them with tanks,. They imrisoned, tortured and murdered thousands more. Falun Gong members are beated and raped at will by Chinese security forces. Farmers who speak out against comoulsory aquisitions face prison or death or both. Why can they not find some way of talking to their own people? Why is the gun their first response to everything?

And why does the rest of the world pretend it is not happening?

Communism is never the paradise liberals think. Individual freedoms, especially freedom of speech, are the first things to go, like what is happening right now in the UK and the USA.

You're looking at the result of thousands of years of communist dictators. When you've seen your great-grand-parents, grand-parents and parents obeying and being afraid of the government you end up with a very docile society incapable of thinking for themselves.

You have forgotten China has its own political system, their own culture & value, their own constitution  & agenda that are not governed by western standards. Another words, it is another country that the world has to respect and to live with peacefully.

If you look at the communist history in China you'll see that they inflicted a lot of suffering on their people.  In order to keep people loyal through famine and oppression they had to make the people too frightened of the government to rebel.  Later they wanted to keep people in line and not questioning what the government told them, so they maintained strict control over what they could see of the rest of the world.  This is how the chinese government learned to control their population, and this is how they will continue to control them and keep everyone on the same page.

Why did Hitler do what he did?  Why did Stalin do what he did?  Because they are crazy, plain and simple.

And the US should not be involved in foreign affairs.
