When it says to hate certain groups of people, when one of the ten commandments is "thou shalt not kill" yet god asked abraham to kill his own son, when it comdemns people and tells them they're horrible for believing things outside chritianity, and a number of other examples?

any clearing up would be great :)

note: i'm not being a smart ***, i'm honestly wondering. thanks.

  1. Most Christians are peaceful.

  2. Regarded by whom?  I know of nothing in the History of Christianity that would support such a claim, it's been spread by death and terror everywhere it's gone.  They claim to be a Religion of Peace, as does Islam, but their actions have never come close to reflecting their words.

  3. rarely, if ever ,do they strap on explosives and run into day cares or such....................

  4. Why is the Christian religion generally regarded as a peaceful religion?

Because the main tenament of Christianity, the only command Jesus wants us to do for each other, is:

    "Love your neighbor as yourself."

    - - -

As for other concerns (1) hate certain groups of people, 2) thou shall not kill and 3) Abraham killing his own son):

    1) the Bible never says that, 2) the Hebrew word for "kill" is correctly translated as "murder", implying that there is a time for justice, and 3) Abraham did not kill his own son.  As for 3) you missed the point of why, why God intervened, and God's overall object lesson for us.

  5. When people stop believing in it I would guess .

Until then it will remain one of the most hateful of all religions .

  6. Murder is "unnecessary killing."

Many wars (if not all wars) are over resources.

If you are anti-Christian, just please don't tell me you saw this on U-tube?

    Thanks. All the best.

  7. I don't regard Christianity as particularly peaceful. More blood was shed in the name of this faith than any other religion. Of course I'm biased, being Jewish.

  8. Because Christians are the ones that say it is.  Hitler had a pretty good opinion of his own actions, as well.

  9. The bible doesn't ask us to hate certain people, but to hate the acts they commit. Hate being not to accept or do those things, not to be angry and wanting to hurt someone. God asked Abraham to kill his son as a test. It was a prophecy of what was to come. As you may know, a ram was caught in the bushes nearby and God commanded Abraham to sacrifice it instead. Abraham (God), Isaac (humans), ram (Jesus). The bible condems no one. It clearly states that every body has a choice. And yes, it is the Truth, so it does say that whosoever choses not to live a godly life will perish. If that wasn't so than what would be the point of heaven, of living a godly life? As you may remember, Jesus changed many of the old testament laws because He took the burden of sin from us and the punishments that were inflicted by God in the OT. One day, when the Pharisees were ready to stone this woman who had committed adultery, it was Jesus who asked the Pharisees to throw the first stone if they have never sinned. Well, they had, so they walked away. Jesus forgave the woman and asked her to go and not sin again. We are thereby taught to love others and forgive them as Jesus forgives us.

  10. Well

It is contradictory because it was written by humans (even a Christian cannot deny this: it was written by people who were spoken to by God) therefor there will be a big chance for error.  It was written by many different people at many different times, therefor there will be contradictions.  It is not the most peaceful religion: for a while it was believed to be so because Christians are usually they dominant religion.

It does teach to hate, but most Christians do not see it that way.  They feel that homosexuals and nonbelievers are not on the same level as them and therefor do not count.

  11. Christ is our Prince of Peace as foretold in the prophecy in Isaiah 9:6,7.  Jesus said in Matthew 22:39 the second greatest commandment is to love your neighbor (including enemies) as yourself.  It is not about hating people but about detesting those actions that are in opposition to God's word.  God loves us all and he is asking we all come to know him and when we do to follow the way that Christ taught, which is the way of love and peace.  Notice that Abraham's actions were a test of his faith.  Instead of Isaac the ram was given as a sacrifice which represented the "lamb of God" Jesus Christ the ultimate sacrifice.  We are none of us perfect and it's not easy trying to do what's right.  Even the apostle Paul said this in Romans  7.  All Christians are at different levels of spirituality and won't be perfected in this life.  It's what we are doing now and how much effort we are putting into our faith that pleases God.  Some of us committed the worse sins but have changed. The more we make a practice of our faith by following the example of Christ, the more we please our God and the closer we are to Him.  If we make a practice of sin then we are resisting his Holy spirit.

Why do some blame God and his word the bible for the actions of men.  He doesn't tell us to go kill our enemies.  We have a new commandment to love them no matter what...or is that not practical in this day and age!

We all stand on our own merits before God and He is the ultimate Judge.   God help us all.

  12. who regards it as peaceful..?..there have been more wars fought over religion than any other cause..it is a hateful, spiteful, nasty pastime and most of the people involved with it are either mad or following selfish aims..

  13. That not true.

Xistians just killed a old, peaceful gentle hindu Swami in India. His crime - he protested against cow slaughter and conversions of Hindu to Xistians.

Xistians, now, will never be considered peaceful, atleast in India.

  14. hypocrisy like my all loving and peaceful god will d**n all nonbelievers to h**l

  15. it never said to hate certain people. it says to not hate anyone, and love all, inlcuding your enemies. go to church, talk to people there, ask them. they would be glad to answer your questions.

  16. The facts you have are wrong because they've been completely taken out of context. You should actually read the verses, but basically, to sum it up God says, hate the sin and love the sinner. So hate homosexuality but don't hate homosexuals. There are some christians who are just a complete embarrassment to the whole religion and they preach hatred against g**s and anyone of a different religion. Seriously when I see them, I'm embarrassed to say I'm a Christian.

Also God told Abraham to sacrifice his son to him (there's a difference between murder and sacrifice) to be like a symbol to represent what God was going to do with his son, Jesus. And keep in mind, it was a test of Abraham's faith and God stopped Abe before he could actually go through with it.

  17. we hate fighting..

That was only a test of obedience..

THERES NO RIGHT BELIEF OTHER THAN cHristianity so THATS OK FOR GOD TO SAY WHAT HE WANTS SINCE HE RUNS THINGS....IS THAT CLEAR NOW??????????

  18. "When it says to hate certain groups of people"

Maybe I'm just ignorant, but where can you tell me that it says this?

Also, God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son (sacrifice is the word used) as a Blood Offering as a test of his faith.  If you read the passage, you'd know that it took a great deal of personal strength and put a lot of stress on Abraham to bring himself to do this.  He had to trust that God had a plan, and he did indeed have a plan.  It was a test of faith, and God did send an angel to stop the blood offering from taking place.

  19. Who does it say to hate? You need to prove what you say. It does say not to murder. Also it says to love your enemy. It says to turn the other cheek. God did make Abraham show his faith. God never let him kill his son.

  20. Its only considered peaceful by other Christians.  As Muslims about Christian peace and they will give you a different version.  Ask Vanuatu islanders about the peacefulness of Christians and they will disagree, and ask Bosnian Muslims about peaceful Christian serbs.
