  1. uh, freedom?

  2. you really want them to impose fines that means you want someone telling you whats desent or not desent how about making that desision on your own

  3. Bad question its the other way around.

  4. What? RELUCTANT? Where have you been?

First and foremost, if you want your children to be "protected" or sheltered from anything at all, it's your job as a parent. If I dont want my son watching something, he wont. It's not the job of someone else to make sure my children are supervised and offered positive alternatives to sitting in front of a television. I am completely shocked and dismayed when parents want someone else to do their job for them.

Second, every single aspect of network television in the United States is controlled very carefully. Do you ever watch the news? Do you not notice the constant reporting of violence and the downfall of our civilization? Amazing, wonderful things happen every single day but you wont see it on network TV. Corporations own the free television we watch, and can put whatever they want on it. And they choose to terrify us. You have to go to the internet and search pretty hard for reliable, unbiased news sources.

Lastly, this really is a non-issue. Of all the things to spend time and energy on, ridding the US of seemingly 'inappropriate' television is just worthless. Hundreds of thousands of children are starving, homeless, beaten, neglected and murdered all over the world every year. This question is a perfect example of how the countries that lead the world are simply lost. Our focus should be on improving the world where it really needs it, and if we passed those values onto our children they just might get up and walk away from the TV and do something to change their world.
