I just simply don't understand and some of the people that live there. They KNOW the aids rate is high so why do they keep having unprotected s*x. Why is the AIDS rate so high there?

Is it because of people that can't afford condoms?

Uneducated people?

I just simply don't get it, Wikipedia showed that some nations there have HIV rates of like 20%, why is this?

Thnkyou

  1. There has been a recent study done that says that people of African descent are more sucseptible to HIV due to a Malaria gene that they carry Imnot saying that this is the only reason that the infection rare is so high But most of it has to do with lack of education about the disease

  2. Because some people (white and black) are to stupid to realise that sleeping with someone who may or is HIV positive can and does lead to AIDS if no protection is used.  They seem to not take it very seriously and take the attitude "it won't happen to me". For me if they do this and don't take precautions they only have themselves to blame.

However, this does not count for people who are raped, that is a different matter and is completely not their fault.

  3. My daughter traveled to Africa.  The people just don't care.  They are aware of aids but still have unprotected s*x with multiple partners very indiscriminately.  The larger the population that is infected, the more likely your partner will be infected so the percentage of people with the disease grows.

  4. Because the stupid locals think that if you rape a baby it will cure you. Same as raping a virgin.

  5. Good question........Social scientists are starting to understand why.  It has to do with culture, poverty, politics and the disenfranchisement of prostitutes......

It's doing something about it that is difficult.  In Africa this type of problem is largely looked after by outsiders and non-governmental agencies (NGOs), which isn't working.

Social scientists are trying to figure out how to build sustainable community programs to address HIV/AIDS issues, but it is an uphill battle due to stigma, exhaustion of caregivers, lack of trained personnel, culture, obstruction, funding, politics, etc.

If you really want to read on this topic, go to the Amazonbooks.com page and get your hands on a copy of Catherine Campbell's "Letting Them Die:  Why HIV/AIDS Intervention Programmes Fail.

I appreciated the article by Aimee C.  Have bookmarked it.

  6. I think it really has to do with education.  I remember hearing one time that a lot of people over their believe a myth that in order to get rid of the diseases you have to sleep with a virgin, thereby spreading the diseases more.

  7. for one their is soo much prostitution going on. The men have to "prove" themselves by bedding the women. It's crazy over there. Actually that's why my avy says: Violated and I Like It.

I answered another question about a lady who wants to "visit" some guy she met online in South Africa and I 'm like 'WHAT?

don't go....it could be a set up and I mentioned the AIDS epidemic there which was just on cable last week and they violated me....but it's okay...I had to warn her. Thanks for your ggreat question.

p.s. this is also the country where the guy that heads up the AIDS organization that gets the information out to the people, was accused of raping his servant w/o a condom!!!!

  8. The "western" reason is education (lack thereof) and simply not caring.  The "traditional" reasoning is because of the culture that exists.

  9. Condoms are readily available in many public toilets and at local clinics for free. So it's not a matter of not being able to afford it.

It's more a thing of condoms not being cool and many people prefer not to use them.

Because of that way of thinking and doing, stupidity comes into play. There are so many Aids campaigns going on all over in the media, television and newspapers, everywhere, that I can't see it being the result of education.

  10. In South Africa AIDS is almost entirely a black and homosexual disease. The infection rate in white heterosexuals is very very low.

  11. Ha ha its a joke

After 14 years of education they still have un protected s*x

Its like killing your self you know what will happened but you still do it

In S.A. you get condoms for free as many as you like but with there traditions they do not use it

and to rape A baby will cure you from aids

or Min. of health eat beetroot and you are healthy

  12. I think that AIDS is G-Ds joke on mankind, don't you just find it ironic that something that creates life is now also a deadly killer.

People who are monogamous are the ones that will survive this plague but who knows what will happen when we are in the minority, will we be blamed and persecuted for being clean, will we be preyed upon and hounded, by aides infested zombies, like in " The Night of the Living Dead."?

If people don't start getting responsible then we are in for a rough ride.

  13. If Governments don't take HIV/Aids seriously, why should the population do so, after all they follow their leaders?
