  1. I don't think that's the case. The sovereign nation of Iraq has a freely elected government. They feel they are close to being able to sustain and protect the freedom that was a gift form the US. If that is the case, we should say you are welcome and leave. It is their country, and they are in control now. If that is the case, let's leave as the benevelant gift bearers of freedom that we claim we are and let them run their own country. We can enhance our image greatly by doing so, as long as they are in control.


  2. He isn't.  He is the leader of a nation that wants self-governance.  I think he would like a lot less troops, but not all of them withdrawn in case he runs into trouble with the bad guys-kinda like Korea.

  3. The likelihood is that the PM believes that with American troops gone from Iraq, the "floating" bad guys will follow the Americans to Afghanistan, and leave Iraq alone.  He is probably right.
