Why is the Philippines the number one in terms of agricultural products ?

Just wondering why.

ive never heard that the philippines  are number one.  given the amount of farmland there i cant see them being number one because of quantity. maybe as a nation they the most different types of products.  i suppose they could be a major producer of rice, but would expect that one of the asian mainland countries is the rice leader.

In the Philippines the total area devoted to agricultural crops is 13 million hectares.  This is distributed among food grains, food crops and non-food crops.  Food grains occupied 31% (4.01 million hectares), food crops utilized 52% (8.33 million hectares) while 17% (2.2 million hectares) were used for non-food crops.

     According to land capability, 78.31% of the alienable and disposable land are prime agricultural areas, 6.1 million hectares are highly suitable for cultivation.

     Add to this you can double the effective acres as they have two full cropping seasons per year and fairly well disturbuted rainfall year around and you have an enviroment well suited to crop production.
