Why is the South American government so corrupted?

How come there isn't much law in South America and the leaders don't really help with the whole poverty situation. Whats made the government so corrupt?

  1. South America is a continent, not a single country.

    Bolivia,Chile,Peru,Brazil are some of the countries in South America.

       I think you are mistaken either by lack of knowledge, or racial prejudice against Hispanic and Portuguese speaking people.

       Do some on line research before you ask another question like this one!

  3. South America is not a country with one government, it is a continent comprised of 13 different countries and a few  islands. It does not have a single government, each country has it's own. But Columbia is one of the few countries that is not corrupt, and is a democracy, where capitalism has helped to prevent the spread of dictators. Venezuela is a dictatorship, where everything is owned by the state( government). They own the oil, the TV and newspapers, they own the telephone companies, they own the electric companies, etc. They control the country through military force, if you argue with them, you die. They are socialists, whereby they think that all people should be equal, or equally poor, and only the ruling class should have money. Sounds a lot like Obama to me.
