why isn't the U.S. doing anything about the Russia/Georgia conflict? Georgia is an allie and was helping us in Iraq. It seems like we are picking battles that we think we can win

  1. We have enough on our plate and why should we butt in?  They aren't in NATO yet.

  2. Well i think this is b/c if the U.S Army got involved in the whole thing it would be really seriously picked on and criticized more than they currently are. Plus if they got inlolved they might risk gettin on the wrong side of Russia and thats not a thing that any contry wants to do nomatter how large an army they have. As you said yourself the U.S are obiously just getting involved in the battles they almost know they can win.

i.e. in Iraq they thought they could just go in and crush all of Iraq and the taliban, as im sure you know.

They really do pick their battles.

Russia has got the worlds 9th largest army.

    And the worlds largest airforce.

    3rd largest by Navies.

  3. Maybe, because we don't want to start WW111

  4. America has too many irons in the fire right now.  We get involved in Georgia.

Iran and North Korea might say.  I will never find the American military stretched out this thin for another 100 years.  And then china might say.  ZOMG.  If I ever want to lead the world.  America is almost down.  Maybe I should get in their with my foot.

  5. The US isn't helping or getting involved in the Russia/Georgia conflict, because they know, that its a war that they wont be able to win. As Russia is not Iraq. In fact Russia is an equal superpower to that of the US. Gone are the days of old soviet weaponry, Russia is now equipped with state of the art modern Russian weapons, of which some are by far better than that of the US. Also Russia has the biggest Nuclear/Thermonuclear arsenal in the world; newly developed  Topol-M thermonuclear delivery systems that cannot be shot down even by the star wars defense system that hasn't even been built yet by the USA. So unless the USA wants to start WW3 and cause a global Nuclear/Thermonuclear holocaust, they will need to avoid getting involved at all costs.

  6. I have no idea, plus why would you want a WW3?

    it's no good.

  7. We only have so many troops and resources.

  8. I'm glad. It is none of our (US) business. The US should not fight in anyones wars. In fact the US should have never fought in Korea, Vietnam or Iraq.

I love America and the USMC oorah! But these wars were not the US's to fight.

  9. Even G.W.Bush understands that supporting Georgia will make him look like an idiot. Georgia is a bad ally for the US. Allies never make others fight for themselves, while Georgia obviously planned that the US or NATO will fight for them when they attacked Ossetia.

  10. Who says we aren't?  There are rumors that American special ops are on the ground already in Georgia.  We may also be supplying the Georgian military and providing private military contractors (mercenaries).

But I think we need to pursue a diplomatic solution before using deadly force against Russia.

  11. We are involved there but diplomatically.  There is no way the USA is going to go about sticking its nose in Russia's business militarily.

  12. It is more prudent to have our NATO allies in Europe to stand up to Russia over this incursion.  This is not to say the USA  should not be involved militarily or diplomatically, but Europe must be willing to stand up first, as they will be the further victims of possible Russian aggression, not the USA.

  13. Because if we did you'd ask why we were, when it wasn't our business.

  14. NEWSFLASH! they caused it  and Russia is mad ,mad, mad, so is the rest of the world. Isreal still wants iran attacked, so Bushco sent special forces as did Isreal to trian and buck up the Georgians. Remember Condi going over their with a bullcrap mission to "Protect them from aggressive Russia" then in July they did joint navel exercises? Bushco thinks he has a chance at all that oil in the Caspian sea. Russia is not America's enemy. He is very Nationalistic and will not stant for Imperial America and Imperial Zion to do to Russia what we have all been witnessimg in the Middle East. Don't forget it was Georgia that invaded Russia. Now Russia has made mince meat of their Air Force and most of the infastructure. The Ukraine better hope it was not involved in this yet another Bushco Fiasco. Russia supplies all the heating gas and oil to the Ukraine as well as take care of all the pensioners etc. with monthly cheques. If they got snaggled into taking part it may be a could winter in the Ukraine. Russia and China also told Bushco in no uncertian terms they will consider an attack on Iran as an attack on Russia, China will back Russia. Bushco had contemplated sinking a U.S. ship and blaming Iran. One Military head was so concerned that this was perciecely what Isreal had in mind he flew their and warned them "We will not stand again and allow a U.S.S. Liberity to happen again. Isreal demanded his removal. Just the Admiral before him who was ordered to bomb Iran, he not only refused to obey but ordered an American bomber that got mixed orders to turn around or be shot down by U.S. forces. He is now gone. They are eliminating all the doves...Mary.  P.S. when I say Bushco it means Bush and company.

  15. actually i read this morning that putin is pissed cuz the us pulled the georgian troops out of iraq.

  16. The US has a long history of sticking their nose where it doesn't belong and causing drawn out meaningless wars (ie, Vietnam, Iraq). I'm sure we will get involved it's just a matter of time and probably not too long. I also fear another major world war.

  17. I do not think the United States should get involved in this conflict with military might.  Let them fight it out and work through the UN.  That is what everyone wants us to do anyways.

  18. Perhaps you don't realize how quickly a conflict between the US and Russia would degenerate into a nuclear exchange.  The last thing you will ever want are two nuclear superpowers getting into any kind of conflict.

  19. We should NEVER fight with Russia in these situations. Our military is stretched thin as it is.

Our country is weak right now economically, financially, military, morale, etc. Trying to fight Russia would start Cold War II...or should I say Hot War aka WW3?

The U.S. cannot take on anyone that they want. Russia has nearly 4x as many nukes as we do. If we were to attack Russia/China, that would be suicide to be honest.

Please, I want diplomacy! This conflict seems to be out of short tempers. If we get enough influential countries to demand talks, then they'll cave in eventually.

World peace will never exist as long as we utilize military force against our fellow man. People being nationalistic are undermining the human race. We should stop identifying each other by nation, race, religion, gender, social class, orientation, political party, etc. Instead, we should see each other as human beings!

  20. The U s is already spread to thin around the middle east, and cannot afford to be in Georgia. Secondly they are not the police of the world!

  21. I'm sure the US is doing a lot behind the scenes to help fight off this blatant Russian aggression.  But and direct engagement would almost certainly result in an outright war which would have a high chance of going nuclear.

Russia is hiding behind it's nukes to steal from it's neighbors.. same as always.

  22. Why would we get involved.  If your friend picked a fight would you jump in and help?

  23. Sure are a lot of guys crying for action out here.

I hope the your local Army recruiting station can handle the big rush.

  24. If we did help, people would just B*tch and B*tch about it.

  25. Sadly, we are oil dependent and Russia is where we get a lot of oil from.  Also, Russia is a very powerful nation and indeed we cannot help and intervene in every situation.  The UN has already tried to have Russia stop but it refuses, so I am not sure what it to happen with Georgia but no doubt everyone is trying to stop it.

  26. They must not have anything we want or we'd be in it!
