I have heard it on broadcasts and read it in magazines, but it has never been explained. Also, is it just the basketball team or the whole US olympic team?

  1. Well since the 1992 games the US basketball team somewhat of a disappointment....especially for a country that is supposed to be the best basketball country in the world...the originator of the sport. Well this years US basketball team looks the most dominant that the US has put together since the 1992 "dream team".....so essentially this years team is supposed to be redeeming the name of the US basketball program.....so its really a play on words....in 92' it was the "Dream Team", and now in 08' they are the Redeem Team.

  2. Because Labron didn't like being called "LaBronze"

  3. because of their loss in the last Olympic basketball games

  4. just the basketball team.  they're trying to redeem themselves as the dominant basketball power because of previous failures in international basketball

  5. In the past, the U.S. Olympic Basketball team has been comprised of arrogant, big-headed pros who went to the games and got their butts kicked around the block. The hope this year was that Coach K could reign the players in, focus on the game and their representation of the U.S., play well and bring home the gold -- redeem themselves.

  6. because they didnt do good last summer olympics
