Question:

Why is the USA so far behind on Recycling and doing something about the Climate Crisis?

Everybody always talks about the USA being the smartest and best country in the world?

But what about those other countries already two steps ahead in many areas concerning our planet, and coming up with solutions, and following through with them? Why does it have to be almost too late for them to realize what's happening with our planet, and that the US is one of the biggest contributers to our crisis?

What can we do to get this country up to date, and to finally follow the rest of the world, and make an effort to change?

Thank you for your input.

  1. because usa is the most wasteful country of them all

  2. I love this climate

  3. What a stupid and uneducated question. The global warming hoax has already cost the world several billion dollars and several thousand lives. Only a fool believes that man can change the climate. Look around you, have you noticed that many places are experiencing unusually cold weather? Global warming was invented by Al Gore and some stupid europeans. If they want to live in the 19th century that is fine with me but do NOT force your stupid ideas on the US or any advanced country. Ask those in Africa or other undeveloped countries whether they would like billions of dollars spent on a hoax or that same money spent on food. Let me know what they have to say.

  4. I'd love to see a link to what China is doing for climate change. They're the most populous. Could you provide that? or any link to show what a country is doing, above the norm.

  5. Maybe because it means imposing dicipline on the industries that make the US prosper. Politicians are not going to bite the hands that feed them. By the same token any restrictions on the freedom to choose and use an automobile or to fly city to city, would loose them votes. But don't get too concerned about European 're-cycling'. A lot of it serves no purpose other than to give the people a 'feel good' factor.

  6. Well.. have you met the current administration?  Have you met all the religious conservatives that voted them in office?

    There you have your answer.

  7. Can you proved any evidence in support of your claim that the US is far behind on recycling and doing something about the climate crisis?  I want numbers, not political speak.  What countries recycle more than the U.S, and on what basis?  What countries are doing more to address climate change? That's actually doing something, not talking about it, real actions.  For every real action you give, please compare, in quantitative terms these countries with the U.S.

  8. Who says we're behind in any thing ?

What if any countries are ahead ?

Maybe you could cut & paste some fake stuff on GW also.

I've seen goats F'ing in the market, garbage heaps so big when they fall people die, untreated sewers running into a cannel, strait into the bay/ocean.  All of this NOT in America.

So when some unknowing idiot like you posts a question like this, first educate yourself on how things REALLY are, now go save a whale.

  9. The reason for being so far behind on recycle is that some people really don't want to recyle. And the climate crisis is if people would do the park and ride it would cut down on alot of polution.

  10. Because so many Americans are climate change deniers! See several answers above for your proof. There is now an overwhelming scientific consensus that climate change is happening, it is at least in part caused by the actions of man, and we all have an individual responsibility to change our behaviour to reduce our impact on the planet. Even President Bush now admits this! It is undeniable.

In answer to the point about spending money on food for people in the developing world,-

    a. climate climate is the biggest threat to people in the developing world - they are most at threat from change to climate in terms of agriculture, which reduces the food availble to them, and also climate change increases natural disasters like floods, which they are not equipped to handle. Change to the climate which is being mostly contributed to by us in the developed world - how is that fair? China may be increasing it's emissions, but per capita their contribution is tiny compared to the US and Europe.

    b. action on climate change doesn't have to cost huge amounts of money! It is about people making small changes to their behaviour, hopefully supported by their governments, e.g. taking public transport sometimes, washing your clothes at a lower temperature, flying less often, turning your thermostat down by 1 degree. Not exactly life changing steps to take! even a little is better than nothing!

To the early responders- why deny that there is a problem and ask for the evidence to be brought to you? Why not take the time to educate yourself about what is going on in the world?
