I am getting such excellent responses to this question that I wanted to add some more of my own thoughts. I understand the importance of post WWII thinking and the tragedy of the holocaust. But, it has been sixty years. Hasn't there has been a natural shift in the politics of the world since then? Also, I would not consider our country a Judea-Christian society any longer. We are much more diverse. Your thoughts?

  1. It's a REAL Democracy

They have pledged their alliance to the United States

    &

Other mideastern countries have a nasty habit of giving safe haven to terrorists (terrorists that murder westeners)

    ----------------------

Don't let the Jew haters trick you.

The Arabs have attempted GENOCIDE against Isreal a couple of times !!! (and they will try again)

    and

The arabs try and manipulate the U.S. by promising "peace" if only we would let them murder the Jews with out interfering.

Isreal is not the bad guy !

The Americans that support Arab dreams of mass murder are the sickest kind of antisemite.

  2. Because politicians want to be re-elected.

    That's the only reason.

The US relationship with Israel is terrible for the US.

  3. There are many reasons why some people in the US support Israel.

Christians and Jews, in particular Zionists, believe that the Jews are "Gods Chosen people" and that god has given them the land of Palestine.

Some Americans feel guilty because the Jews have no country to call their own, despite several other religions that do not have one as well. The reason for this guilt is because the Europeans tried to exterminate them, or stood by while it happened. Some Zionist exploits this to attain some of their goals. That’s why we have Holocaust Museums in every city.

Then there is those who suggest the Israelis are our only allies in the Middle East. These people forget that the:

    - Israelis bombed the USS Liberty in a potential False Flag attack

    - has been convicted or accused of using AIPAC of spying on the US numerous times

    - has sold advanced military secrets to China

    - They cannot participate in any of our military activities in the Middle East without alienating ourselves from our other Arab allies (That’s right we do have other allies in the Area)

    - Our alliance with Israel is THE MAIN REASON why Arabs hate us so much, just check out the last OBL video being reported recently.

    - And most importantly their intelligence agency the Mossad overplayed the threat of WMDs so that we would invade Iraq and are now currently doing the same with Iran.

Finally there assertion that Israel is the only democracy in the area, which is also not true because other countries are having elections too. Palestine for example had an election in which they elected Hamas, who not only terrorizes Israel but also provided social services, won the election. Americans has done everything short of openly declaring war on Palestine now. Then there is the Israeli "Free Democracy." Israel's democracy is just as racist as the other racist Muslim democracies. Not too long ago their Supreme Court denied an Arab the ability to move to a Jewish settlement because they decide that these neighborhoods had the right to live among people like them. This would be ok if they didn't move Jewish settlers into Eastern Jerusalem, an Arab dominated area, under the guns of the IDF. There are other issues like building permit, tax expenditures, and immigration.

All of these people contribute to PACs that fund and support politicians, primarily AIPAC. There isn't a strong counter balance to lobby for the Arabs and Persians so going against AIPAC is political suicide. Saying or doing anything that isn't Pro Israel will get you tons of public criticism, even being neutral will get you labeled an anti-Semite.

BTW this is from a Hindu viewpoint to help you determine bias. If you want link to the above information I'll be happy to send them to you.

    Edited to address your thoughts.

I think our country does have a majority of Christians, but our values are based on "The Golden Rule" as Christians call it Hindus call it Karma. We do have protections for the minority though. I used to think like you that we are moving towards a country that is more accepting of other religions, until I went to the Texas Republican Convention for the first time earlier this month. Let me say I was proselytized 5 times, and was one the few non white Christians there I could count on one hand out of 5000 people. For me I always thought being a Republican you were a Conservative first and foremost, from what I experienced there you need to be a Christian first and foremost. One of the examples was actually at the county level. This one made my brother and his Army buddies really upset because they had just got back from Iraq fighting for everyones rights and not just the majority. The neo-conservatives passed a resolution to require schools to provide Judeo - Christian students access to the facilities for meetings and what not. The traditional conservatives tried to amend it to say "All religious student groups" but it was voted down by the general assembly almost unamiously citing "America was founded on Judeo Christian values" & american born "Muslim students might use it for terrorism." The democratic party might be better though, I haven't been involved with them. I think I'll try the Libertarians next time.

    Hope this helped.
