I heard the Wachovia Center is being torn down but I have not heard why. It is still a relatively new arena and compares well to other arenas.

  1. Yeah it's the Spectrum. Basically Comcast Spectacor, which owns the Flyers and Sixers and operates the Center and Spectrum has decided to revamp the Philadelphia sports complex area. They will be tearing down the old Spectrum and building a flashy new area with shops and dining options. This will really be great because there has never been anywhere to park your car and eat without moving it again before going to a game in Philadelphia. This new outdoor mall will affect pregame for all the teams in Philadelphia since they all play at the same complex area. First smart move by the City of Philadelphia in a long time. I'll attach the specs on the construction.

  2. The spectrum is being torn down, NOT the center, to make way for "Philly Live" which is a large complex which will have a hotel(s), shopping and restaurants.

  6. The Flyers moved out of the Wachovia Spectrum around 10 years ago. The AFL Soul play there as well as the MISL Kixx and NLL Wings. The AHL Phantoms play there now but rumor has it that they will move to Atlantic City.

The home of the Flyers for their first 30-some years is being razed for a new hotel.

    Woo-hoo, I can't wait.....

Meanwhile, the Flyers and Sixers play at the new Wachovia Center across the parking lot from the historic and soon to be missed Spectrum.

    (Farewell my old friend)
