Why is the Wales - Australia world cup match in Cardiff?

I remember when England hosted the world cup several years ago now, The French played a game in the Parc Du Prince. Can't remember who they played though. I definately remember Ireland narrowly losing their semi final to eventual winners Australia in Dublin. So I guess it's a similar situation.

in order to stop a successful England bid this year the french offered other "celtic" nations a chance to have games however ireland didnt have a stadium as landsdowne road is being done up and were not going near croke park if the GAA have tthier way so wales and scotland took some games which gave the impression that although the world cup is france 2007 that other european countries are taking part making it more inclusive

It appears that France do not have enough stadia to host all matches in the intial stages so both Cardiff and Edinburgh are being used as extra match hosts for key games in the first round.

For the end rounds, matches will be held in France.

QUIZZARD..........It was WALES that hosted the RWC in 1999, England have NEVER hosted the RWC!

To answer your question, even though France had 20 to 18 votes for hosting the RWC, Scotland and Wales added another 2 votes in return for hosting some matches making the total vote 22-18!
