Why is the War in Iraq a postive thing?

I'm working on a project and my teacher assigned us a stance and mines Pro Iraq War. Personally, I'm against it but its always interesting to see the other side. Include statistics or sites that will help me. Thanks!

Does your teacher really think that the war is a positive thing? is he that thick? I feel sorry for his students.  May be he thinks that it is a positive thing because America has got the second biggest oil reserve in the world so it can control big countries (which American can not fight or invade) such as China which relies on oil from the gulf.  I am stunned how many simple, thick and deluded people live in America and some Western countries who still think that the war was against terrorism.

Sorry, but the Bush administration lied us into that war.  There are no WMD's.  Iraq was not responsible for 9/11.  Saddam Hussein was an ally to the West before 1991.

A million Iraqis have died.

And we are going to be in Iraq for a very long time.  How would you feel if the military draft was instigated??

Both Iraq wars were very short (the last one five years ago only lasted two weeks) and in that time, a sadistic dictator was overthrown, the Iraqi people have a republican government, Iraq is now an ally of the west, and the major cause of Middle East instability (Iran) has a long land border with a pro-western country (Iraq).  The downside of the war is that the new government is unstable, there are war lords in the country, and as a result, allied troops are still there with no end in sight.  Still, the pros far outweigh the cons.
