Why is the Western Media covering up or not putting up news that shows truth?

There is much truth around the world that the U.S. and other western countries' media don't admit to their publics. I only got to know such truth through other resources that are independent and private from any government. Why isn't the western media admitting truth to their public, and only propaganda?

That's pretty broad, general point to make. Not to mention other 'alternative' sources may also participate in gov propaganda and may also be wrong. US is still million times better than how media is controlled in countries like China, Iran or other countries. At least allowing people to seek information if they wish and not jailing them.
