Seems a little strange when World Cup, Olympics, etc. are every 4 years.

  1. Nobody knows.  Even the people who created the Baseball Classic won't give you a straight answer.

  2. The three-year gap from 2006 to '09 has been intended to be a one-time interim; plans call for the WBC to assume a four-year schedule starting with the 2009 tournament.

  3. it is tradition

  4. Tradition? There has only been one!

Baseball just did not want to be like the others I guess. The baseball "classic" has a ways to go to be compared to the World Cup or the Olympics I think.

But as a baseball fan, I will look forward to that happening. And actually, after 2009, it will be every four years.

    Good luck. Good question.

  5. Probably has something to do with not intefering with the olympics or other events.
