Why is it necessary to always list a person's age after their name when they are in a news story? it's good to know their age, but I wonder the relevance.

  1. It can be relevent if it's unusual like a person found dead under 60 years-old. Also many people have the same name.  There is like 7 people in the U.S. with my first and last name, but they don't share my age or where I live.

  2. because some people have the same name or very similar names and by listing their age it can differentiate one person from another. lets say you know a john doe, age 16,and the person in the story is john doe, age 65, you know it's not the person you know.

  3. Most of the time there is no relevance.  The media probably list a person's age to place judge on a person to bring high ratings.  Believe it or not people judge A LOT, and age is one thing that people judge often.  I know it sounds dumb but think about it and it makes sense.
