Why is the biggest news in the world these days about who is dating the Jonas Brothers

Theres an election going on, deaths, etc and whenever I turn on the tv I hear "Is selena gomez dating nick jonas?" Why do people care so much about talentless celebritys dating life

Because people are stupid!! That is why Americans rank the lowest in categories like Math and Science (we ranked lower than Poland -- as stated on Oprah). We are too busy caring about what Brangelia's (sp ?) babies look like and who the Jonas Brothers are dating (or doing).

Pretty soon these so called third world nations will be taking over (if they haven't started already -- Indian call centers, Chinese goods etc)

I know exactly what you mean....most people dont know what's even going on in America or in thier own state even, but they know who's dating what Jonas brother and that Morgan Freeman's getting a divorce....etc.  

I asked a friend whos a girl your question, and this is what she said

     "umm i dunno....i guess because....theres always gonna be death and stuff...all the stories about the elections and natural disasters are always the same...but not hollywood gossip..i just dont care that much about all the stuff because its boring..... and scary sometime"
