Why is the bottom part of fire blue?

As in, you know when you light a lighter the bottom is blue and the upper part is .. What color is it? Like, yellow or something? Anyways. I just want to know why the heck is blue in the bottom!!? lol. Thanks. ^^;

  1. The different colors represent different frequencies of light.  The hottest flame produces the highest frequency of light, blue and the cooler flame produces lower frequency of light such as yellow and red.


  2. The blue is the hottest point of the fire.

  3. "the bottom" is the warmest part and blue fame is a good, pure and hot flame. yellow flame is weak, still hot but weak, it is often the cause of soot. If you have a really powerful flame it will be blue.

  4. when the less dense fire rises to the top of the flame, it draws in more air to the bottom of the flame, and the more air at the bottom provides more fuel, which makes the fire warmer, and that turns the flame blue
