  1. On First sights people might say its becuase american election have far reaching consequences worldwide. But I also think that the American elections a theatrical quality and are filled with pomp. I think it makes people interested. Also american politics seem to have much stronger political cleavage and polarisation which makes debate seem vibrant.

  2. I,m sick of it.

Probably because it is such a sham, glitzy, all staged, but I think most of all humorous simply because the Americans believe every word because it,s on telly. They haven,t realised yet that politicians tell them what they want to hear.

British TV should stop now and concentrate on more important things at home like the increased poverty due to the imbalance of wealth.

  3. because our media are as deeply entangled into the EU and multicultural con trick as the government are. the BBC in particular cover up so! much for the labour party and distort the truth about how the British people feel about it all. by god! we need a clear out in this country. and i'm not just talking about troublesome and illegal immigrants.

  4. That is one of the most puzzling things in UK journalism. It seems that news editors are enamored with the US election scene  even though most readers/listers/viewers are not. It could be that it's an opportunity for many journalists to have a jolly on expenses. How does one get through to them that we are not that interested. Yes, tell us when they finally have the result, but we don't want a blow-by-blow account or analyses done to death by this or that pundit. I guess the only way is not to buy any newpapers during this period and to keep switching off when anything to do with that d*** election is broadcast.

  5. They discussed this on Mock the Week last night - did you watch it, too? I believe that the British media takes such a staggering interest in American politics is because nothing huge is taking place in England right now and they need something to fill up the otherwise silent hours of BBC newsnight and other political shows. The American elections are so popular and well-known that British media have decided to cover them, too, because let's face it... the last time something interesting happened in Britain was the World War II. Or possibly the Eurovision Song Contest.

  6. Maybe the circus over here is more sensational? The media follows the blood trail...

  7. I am so sick of it and I'm American.  Gah... if I had to watch other countries elections that would just p**s me right off.  It's already bad enough... thank goodness this only happens every four years.

  8. idk

  9. No its just which one is currently in the limelight   , its the convention at the moment that is news

  10. nothing is happening here parliament is on summer holidays

  11. Because the outcome of British politics have no effect on anyone but British people. You are not a superpower.

  12. That sucks, I'm sick of all of it and I'm American...it'd be even worse if it wasn't your own country
