Why is the chupacabra feared?

On my yahoo's home page it says that a cop in south texas caught a video of a chupacabra on his dash video thing! So I just wanted to know why they were feared??

Well its believe to be a demonic creature. I saw the video and thought it was a dog, then it turned around and it had a really big head and like a snout. I don't know what that thing is.
